• The Japanese word for “over-burden” or “difficult to do” is Muri. Muri is anything that places too heavy a mental or physical burden on team members. In the case of machinery, Muri is evident when equipment is oper­ated beyond its designed capacity. The production system should be designed to avoid over-stressing people and machines.
