• An irrigation assessment completed in March 2001 in three governorates (Baghdad, Najaf and Anbar) showed a 22 per cent increase in the irrigated areas, and a 37 per cent increase in water-pumping capacity in four governorates (Salayaldeen, Diyala, Baghdad and Kerbala) as a result of the installation of centrifugal water pumps over the past two years.

• Further assessment of 27 irrigation pumping stations in the governorates of Baghdad, Diyala, Salahaddin and Karbala revealed that 67 installed centrifugal water pumping sets and 37 sets used as replacements for existing obsolete pumps in those stations had raised operational capacity of the irrigation pumping station by 37 per cent.
  وأظهرت التقييمات الأخرى لحالة 27 محطة من محطات ضخ مياه الري في محافظات بغداد وديالي وصلاح الدين وكربلاء أن تركيب 67 مجموعة من مضخات المياه العاملة بالطرد المركزي والاستعاضة عن المضخات العتيقة بمجموعات أخرى عددها 37 مجموعة في هذه المحطات قد أسفر عن زيادة القدرة التشغيلية لمحطات ضخ مياه الري بنسبة 37 في المائة.
