• The Advisory Committee recalls that in paragraph 40 of its report of 1 April 1999 (A/53/895), it had noted that vehicles that were damaged and deemed to be unrepairable or beyond economical repairs were often cannibalized to retrieve re-usable parts for other repairs and that the remaining scrap was accumulated for extended periods at scrap yards awaiting disposal.
