• The Minister of Health issued Decree No. 5 of 1977 on Industries and Occupations That Are Dangerous and Damaging to Health in which women are prohibited from working. These occupations include those performed underground and in exposure to intense heat, e.g.: working in front of metal smelting furnaces; tasks that would subject women to major or ongoing physical exertion, e.g., jobs involving porterage and carrying or pulling loads exceeding 15-20 kilograms; operations that would expose women to damaging vibrations in the upper extremities or the entire body, e.g., drilling in rock, roads, and buildings; operations that involve the handling or processing of lead; and jobs in which it is prohibited to employ pregnant women, e.g., those that would expose them to radiation of all types and x-rays or vapours or fumes of gasoline or derivatives thereof, jobs involving exposure to gene mutating substances, and other jobs that pose a danger to the health of pregnant women and their foetuses.
  أصدر وزير الصحة القرار رقم 5 لعام 1977م بشأن الصناعات والمهن الخطرة والمضرة بالصحة التي يحظر تشغيل النساء فيها، منها الأعمال التي تؤدى تحت سطح الأرض والأعمال التي تعرضهن لحرارة شديدة كالعمل أمام أفران صهر المعادن، والأعمال التي تعرضهن لمجهود جسماني كبير أو متواصل مثل أعمال العتالة أو حمل أو جر الأثقال لأكثر من 15-20 كلغ، والعمليات التي تعرضهن للذبذبات الضارة بالأطراف العليا أو بالجسم كله مثل عمليات التخريم في الصخور والطرق والمباني، والعمليات التي يدخل في تداولها أو تصنيعها مادة الرصاص، كذلك الأعمال التي يحظر تشغيل النساء الحوامل فيها مثل التعرض للإشعاعات بكافة أنواعها وأشعة أكس، والأعمال التي تستدعي التعرض لأبخرة أو أدخنة البنزين أو أحد مشتقاته، والأعمال التي يصحبها التعرض لمواد ماسخة للأجنة وغيرها من الأعمال الضارة بصحة المرأة الحامل وجنينها.
